Online shopping advice

Things can go wrong when shopping online, and cause a lot of frustration. Because our certified online stores pledge to comply with our requirements, we are anxious to know when any of them fail to do so.

Please report any grievances using the form below, and we’ll follow up with the online store identified by you. Please bear in mind that the Trygg E-handel trustmark scheme encourages responsible netiquette. For this reason, Trygg E-handel reserves the right to decline to proceed with reports/complaints if the complainant’s language is inappropriate or their conduct is otherwise offensive. We also recommend consulting Hallå konsument, the Swedish national information service coordinated by The Swedish Consumer Agency, which has a page of information on online shopping.

Here are some tips

Check which company you are concluding a contract with.

You should find clear contact and company details for the company behind the online store. In some cases, the company that operates the online store is not the same company that you conclude a contract of sale with. You should therefore check the name of the company that you are committing to and how you can contact that company if you have any queries about your purchase or wish to cancel your purchase for any reason or claim for faulty goods.

Study the terms applicable to your purchase.

The terms applicable to your purchases are governed by legal statutes (e.g. the right to cancel in the cooling-off period and the right to claim for faulty goods), the company’s terms and conditions and other information provided by the company on the online store such as information on prices and discounts.

Study the delivery options available and whether any additional charges will be applied.

Study the company’s terms of delivery and whether your purchase will incur additional charges. The company has an obligation to provide you with explicit information about any additional charges and you must agree to these expressly before you are liable for payment, e.g. the delivery charge added to your order.

Check your order.

Always check your order before finally confirming your purchase to ensure that the details you have provided and any options you have selected are correct.

Legal proceedings

Svensk Distanshandel AB, the owner of the Trygg E-handel trustmark, has no power to take legal proceedings against an online merchant for misconduct. Our strongest means of influence is that we can revoke the online trader’s right to be certified by Trygg E-handel and display the trustmark. Trygg E-handel requires e-traders to abide by the decisions of the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN).
